NEW FACULTY STARTUP

Carlos Navarrete-Benlloch will join WQC as a tenure

track associate professor this April.

Carlos obtained his physics PhD degree at the

Universitat de Valè ncia, Spain in Dec 2011. Before
joining WQC, he was a research group leader in Max-
Planck Institute for the Science of Light. His research
field is Quantum Optics. He is particularly interested
in open and/or critical quantum optical systems.

Zi Cai joined WQC as a tenure track associate

professor.

Before joining WQC, Zi Cai was a junior faculty in the
Institue of Condensed Matter Physics, School of Physics
and Astronomy, SJTU. Zi Cai’s research field is
condensed matter theory and quantum optics.

Youjin Deng became an associate faculty of WQC
recently. Youjin is a physics professor in University of
Science and Technology of China. His research field is
computational condensed matter theory and statistical
physics.

RECENT ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

Oct 27-28, 2018 WQC Inaugural Conference

WQC hosted a conference“Quantum Theory in the 21st Century”, to celebrate its inauguration. The conference took place in SJTU main campus (Minghang, Shanghai) during the period of October 27-28, 2018, and was organized by Frank Wilczek, Jinfeng Jia, Andreas Hemmerich, W. Vincent Liu, Xiaoqun Wang, Biao Wu, and Xiangjun Xing.

Oct 30-Nov 5, 2018 International Workshop on Precision Many Body Physics
WQC in cooperation with UMass Amherst, SJTU, and USTC organized an International Workshop on Precision Many Body Physics. The goal is to bring together researchers who share the idea of achieving controllable understanding of phenomena taking place in strongly correlated many body systems.

WQC POSTDOCS AND STUDENTS

Jian Song Pan was awarded a prestigious postdoc fellowship offer in Los Alamos Nation Lab. Jian Song was the first WQC Postdoc with Prof. W. Vincent Liu. He was awarded the national postdoctoral fellowship in 2017.
Yihao Liang took a postdoctoral position at the Department of Material Science and Engineering, Northwestern University. Yihao was a graduate student with Prof. Xiangjun Xing.
Cheng Huang was selected for Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, to be held in Lindau, Germany, 2019.06.30-07.05. Cheng is a graduate student with Prof. Xiangjun Xing.

We will move to the eight floor of the new physicsbuilding this summer!
